i have 1996 NEON THAT CAN BE SITTING PARKED AND SOMETIMES WILL CRANK AND SOMETIMES NOT. tHE OUT OF FUEL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE GAS HAND GOES TO EMPTY AND THEN YOURE BROKE DOWN.i HAVE INSTALLED A NEW PCM, A NEW FUEL PUMP, 2 NEW OX 2 SENSORS, HAVE HAD ON A COMPUTER DIO TEST BUT SHOWING NOTHING, NO CODES AT ALL, WILL SOMETIMES CRANK AND RUN FOR 10 MINUTES MAYBE AND THEN FUEL LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. THOUGHT MAYBE NEW FUEL PUMP BAD BUT HAVE TRIED 2 OTHER ONES, STILL SAME RESULT. help help help, ANY IDEAS WILL BE APPRECIATED AT HAIRS END , DODGE DEALER DONT HAVE A CLUE, EXCEPT FOR AROUND A THOUSAND DOLLARS THEY MIGHT FIND IT, ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM? THANKS TO ANY REPLYS

Sounds like a ground issue somewhere.

I have seen a neon that had corroded wires under the battery tray.Remove the tray and check for acid damaged wires or connectors.Also if I remember right there are a couple relays near the battery check them also.

I had a similar problem that was caused by the coil wire grounding out on the engine block. If you take off the air cleaner tube then unroll the tape and plastic cover on the engine wire harness you may find the problem there. The coil wire is orange on my 1999 Dodge Neon. Hope this helps.
