Question leak at oil pan

I recently had the oil changed in my 97 dodge grand caravan. They told me thae oil pan had a leak around it. They suggested that I go up in weight of oil to slow the leak. What does this mean? It is not showing any signs of leaking on the ground.

Find a new mechanic. This one's clueless.

Replace the gasket. The only time you should step up your grade of oil is when you are consuming it or the manufacturer recommends it.

Get it to another shop for a second opinion. The bolts may have just loosened up.
