A/C Intermittently Blowing Hot

The A/C on our 1995 BMW 325i is intermittently blowing hot air. It seems to occur when the car is idled at a stop, and after driving for a while it will eventually cool down again. Any suggestions on how to isolate this problem?

Might be a stuck orifice screen.

A/C is not a DIY repair without the proper tools, service procedures and tactics. Get it serviced professionally if you don't have all these things.

Is there an easy way to check if this is the problem?

Not really. The car should be hooked up to A/C gauges and equipment to see what it's doing.
