74 chevy 350 turbo tranny?
I lost my thread from before, the car is parked for months now and have a leak somewhere, took flywheel cover of and torque converter was clean as a whistle, just had tranny rebuilt maybe 3000 miles ago if that, was told by many here in the forum that the leaks were from this seal or that seal but I lost the thread and cant remeber what they were and what to check, I s there a gasket set for trannys where you can replace everything, is this something the average guy can do, trannies are greek to me?
Right now the car is jacked up getting ready to remove the engine, thank god for drip pans beceause I probably have 1/2 qt of fluid on it now from the tranny if not more.

I believe it was suggested that you bring the unit back to the guy that rebuilt it and make him redo his work....
You should be able to find your original post by using the search function at the top of the forum.
Yes there are master rebuild kits out there, but I do not recommend tranny rebuilding for a first timer. Sometimes special tools are required to properly service the trans.

Joe I cant take it back to the guy who did the rebuild it was done over a yr with i believe a 3 or 6 month warranty. I just havnt put many miles on the car since, I remember almost everyone stating that since the motor was out it should be really easy to fix, Im just trying to pinpoint where the leak is and havnt been sucessful yet!Im going to try and search for my old thread!

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, I THINK THE BEST BET IS TO CLEAN THE UNDER THE CAR WITH A SOLVENT THEN START THE CAR AND RUN IT (BEST ON A LEFT) TO SEE WHERE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM. WHAT ARE YOU LEAKING? IS IT TRANSMISSION FLUID? THE TRANSMISSION PAN GASKET IF PUT ON WITH THE RIGHT TORQUE SHOULD BE OK. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW. COULD IT BE THE TRANMISSION LINES? DOES IT LEAK WITH OUT RUNNING? ALSO ALWAYS CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL.
