Ford Ranger vent problem

The only vent that air is coming out of on my 98 Ford Ranger is the defrost. Whenever I flip the vent switch to come out at my feet or directly on me, the air still comes out of the defrost vent. How can I fix this?

look for a loose vacuum line under the dash. Also sometimes the blend door's(door that controls the air direction)actuationg rod will come loose.Take a look under the dash and you'll probably find your problem.

i looked under the dash and was able to move a rod that made the air come out in the right place, but once i let go it went back to it's broken ways. How can I fix it?
