Battery Mount

I had a battery leak acid on the plate that it sits on in a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Subsequently a lot of corrosion. I want to repaint this. I tried stripping the piant with paint stripper. Is this some kind of speacial paint because it won't strip off?

Also, I would like to go back with some good paint that won't cause any further corrosion. Any suggestions.?

If the plate is cheap, pitch it for a new one. You'll waste more time fixing the old one. I have to think this is a 25 dollar item from the dealer. Then again, Mitsubishi is lackluster and tends to charge a fortune for common parts....

That being said, POR15 will harden like a rock and is resistant to battery acid and will prevent the tray from rusting out. Restomotive Laboratories in Whippany, NJ makes it. They should be at www.por15.com
