IT WAS GOOD FOR A DAY OR 2 NOW IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. THE FORWARD SHIFTING IS FINE ITS ONLY IN REVERSE THERE IS A PROBLEM. I PUT IN REVERSE TODAY AND PRESSED THE GAS AND I JUST HEAR A SPINNING IN THE REAR AND THE CAR BARELY MOVED. AGAIN THE FORWARD GEARS ARE FINE ANY IDEAS.125000 MILES AND AN AUTOMATIC TRANS

First, please release your CAP LOCK key. All caps posts are difficult to read.

As to your transmission problem...I'd take it back to the servicing dealer & explain that their 'miracle service' didn't fix the problem. Ask them to check it out again & get back to you w/ an accurate diagnosis and an estimate before any work is done.

If you don't want to pay the high MB price for diagnosis/repair, take it to a good IMPORT trans shop. You may have to look around for a shop familiar with MB transmissions. Avoid the big chain shops...they're often ripoff joints.

If it comes down to needing a rebuilt trans, search the internet for suppliers. There are at least 2 MB trans. rebuilders that I know of. Each sells guaranteed units for far less than the MB dealer.

if it needs a rebuilt trans you are in trouble .. $$$

www.adsitco.com

good rebuilt engiens trans... but

these trans should go 300K ..at least with a diesel engine.. you should wear out your v-6 twin spark plug engine before you need a tran rebuild. make sure you get an import specialist. Often retired MB techs will work on your car on the side for faaarrr less than they charge at the blue and white box dealerships.
Hope this helps---Josh

I agree. Sounds like internal failure. I also agree with finding a reputable import shop.

This is where owning a MB is a disadvantage. You get heavily soaked when major parts quit on you .

Ive seen many MB repair bills at the parts counter that cost more than economy cars. --Josh
