Possible problem with the cluster itself. They can be sent away and tested for fault before repair.

Does your car have a photocell type VSS mounted on the back of the speedo head? Did you check the VSS buffer? Did you check for continuity between the VSS, the buffer & the ECM?

sensor doesn't have a photocell, before the sensor went bad
it would take about 10 mins. of driving before it would begin
to start operating and after i would turn the car off it would
sometime take as long or it would work right away. i have not
checked the the connections to the ECM, i also replaced the
MAP SENSOR and the TPS SENSOR. QUESTION; in the G.M.
HAYES ADDITION REPAIR MANUAL, the VSS buffer is mentioned
but not where it is located, can you help me with its location?
thanks
