Engine misfires at 3500+rpm

I have a 1999 Pontiac Montana with a
V-6 3.4 liter engine with automatic
transmission. The engine runs fine
until I hit above 3500 rpm then it
begins to surge and lose power.
I had AutoZone put a diagnostic
tester on it and it showed code
303 which means cylinder number
3 misfired. We have replaced the
plugs with no luck. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Jim

sounds like you may be hitting the rev limiter if you are reving it up in park or nuetral and it surges and cuts out that is normal but it shouldnt come in that quick while driving in gear does your check engine light still come on you might check the output of the coil on #3 cylinder and check the plug wire.

Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned that it cuts
out at 3500 when accellerating while in drive also.
