door hinge

1995 Thunderbird. Driver's door hinge sleeve that levels door to close properly, has worn out. Bought new sleeve, but cannot get the pin out to replace the sleeve. Top and bottom of hinge are too big to get out, either up or down.?? No one can tell me how to get the pin out. Makes sense to me that if there is a replacement sleeve, the pin should come out and go back in?? Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I've found it easier to just take the whole door and hinge off to replace those. If i did try just pulling the pin I usually end up breaking the new sleeve.

Pitch the whole hinge for a complete unit. Building up a new one from pieces and parts is frustrating. Better off with a complete unit. Mark the position of the old hinges. Remove the door, have a helper hold it and install the new ones in the same spots as the old.

Those T-Bird and Cougar hinges are gum. My sister had one of those vehicles. I didn't shed a single tear when it was gone and sold. It was a heap.
