Unhappy HELP radiator NOT cooling

water in radiator resevoir is boiling after car is driven a short distance. this is a 1987 Cadilac Devile.

the check engine light was coming on untill i reconnectd the hose to the radiator, it was off.
Now, however, the water still boils like mentioned, but the light does not come on anymore.
what could be the proble? I have not actually had any real overheating problem yet. Don't want to have one.
Please help.

Eeek, this car still uses the HT4100 engine which is a notorious gasket blower and not worth a wooden nickel. Be very careful about putting any money into one of these, they soak you fierce and they are junk .

How's the condition of the cooling system? When's the last time it saw service? Do the electric fans work?

Boiling but not overheating??? Check the radiator cap... Maybe it's not holding enough pressure to lower the boiling point. Also make sure that the coolant is topped off.

Could be just that simple.... Or not....
