Question 1986 Ranger Fuel Pump?

I am having problems with my 4x4 Ranger, it seems to happen only on hot days. I believe it might be the fuel pump, it will sputter and die after driving it for some time. It will turn over but not start, it acts like it is not getting any fuel. After the truck sits for a hour or so it will restart and drive fine. Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you sure it's not getting fuel? Are you sure it's getting spark?

I agree. The distributor mounted ignition module (TFI or thick film integrated) is a known trouble spot on Ford and will cause hard hot starting.

Next time it happens, check to see if you have spark or not. If you don't suspect the TFI module or the pickup in the distributor.
