93 Buick Park Ave. Evaporator Coil

Just took the Park Ave. to the Buick dealer to check out the A/C system. They found a leaking evaporator coil and said the bill would be about $850- ouch!!! Can't pay that much right now. Does anyone know if this is something I could repair myself. Am somewhat mechanically inclined (i.e. Weekendwrencher) BTW- I've converted the system to the new 134 coolant. Any help would be approciated. Thanks!!!

You might try looking in the link I have to autolibrary.org below and seeing if they have the R&R procedure and it's something you want to do yourself.

You cannot fix that evaporator. It has to be replaced. Perhaps a radiator shop can fix it, but it's not worth it. It's all labor.

Joe- Can you be more specific on the auto library link you mentioned, what is the full URL. Thanks, John
