I need to know how to change an 1980 jeep cj5 ignition switch!

Need more info....is the switch dash or column mounted?

Should be column mounted. Uses a GM style lock cylinder. I assume you mean the key and lock and not the electrical start switch?

In either event, I suggest you pick up a Chilton or Haynes manual at the library or your parts store. It will work fine and give you all you need.

You can also check the autolibrary.org link below. Might have to plug in a later year (probably the same) so you can get some information.

I don't think autolibrary goes back to 1980.
