Steering Again...Please help

1990 Ford F150 5.0L 4x4 auto

The steering is "loose" when traveling down the road. It is not the bearings or tie rods. It seems to be somewhere in the steering mechanisms. Can anyone tell me how to tighten up the steering and remove some of the "slop"?

Mike S had suggested a link in response to my original message but the link did not work. Anyone else??

Autolibrary.org does work. I have the updated link below in my signature file.

Check there first. If the gearbox is the fault, replace it with a rebuilt unit. Do not fool around with it or try to rebuild it. You need a good amount of knowledge to do it right.
