Shifter interlock on Ford Taurus

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus wagon and have trouble getting it out of Park. I've checked the fuse for the interlock, it's OK, the brake lights work, so the brake switch is OK. I've been told there's a shifter solenoid in the column that can go bad.

Does anyone know where this solenoid is located and how hard it is to get at?

Thank you.

Check the autolibrary link I have below, it might help.

Recheck the light switch again. It was the problem on my cousin's Taurus (in his case he didn't have brake lights though)
