Qwikrete Resurface cement

Anyone have any experience with this? I want to resurface a front stoop (4'X4') and one step. Will this work on the vertical surfaces as well? I also plan on replacing the current wrought iron supports with 4X4 wood columns on top of the resurface. Will the quikrete hold up or crack under the supports (probably only a few hundred pounds)? Thanks.

A thin application of concrete (Quikcrete) over an existing surface rarely is very long-lived nor would it support any mounting devices (masonry anchors) very securely.
