Question texturing ceiling

We have a new addition that I am finishing. I have a 760 sq. ft. ceiling, the drywall is up and seams taped, mudded and sanded. I want to texture it because I know how every tiny imperfection will stand out on such a large ceiling (hubby doesn't want to, but HE ain't the one doing the work!) Question: Should I primer the ceiling BEFORE texturing it, or can I just mix primer in the mud to make the texture?

What type of texture are you asking about?? If you are doing an acoustic ceiling, prime first than shoot the ceiling. If you are wanting a orange peel or knockdown, then there is no need to use primer until after the texture is on and dry.

Acoustic applications will hide minor imperfections in the ceiling. Your other basic textures will show tape lines if they are not properly floated out.

Good Luck!!!!!
