stucco and plaster, whats the difference guys?

Hey friends, outside my house I need to fill in some material around the window I had to replace. I just dont know if its stucco or plaster, so can you help me understand what the difference is?? Which should I use, the wall material is grey and very hard.
Help, whats the difference???

Stucco is a cementitious material that can withstand exterior exposure. Plaster is a lime-based wall interior material used mainly in restoration or some new homes in New England where plasterers are still around.
