drywall repair/painting

I'm going to put a new coat of paint on the basement walls. I have some sheet rock joints that are showing and nail holes that need work before the paint. I have the sand grit finish and would need to keep that finish. Q: What do I need to do to prepare the wall for paint after putting compound on? Primer? What type paint would be the best? Apply with brush or roller?

Once you've got the finish done, & got her all sanded smooth, I'd use a good drywall primer. We spray it, but if I had to choose between a brush or a roller, I'd use the roller as much as possible.

Take a look at the links in the DIYer section of the site on this page.http://doityourself.com/wall/index.htm

Afterwards post back if you've still got ?'s.
