Using primer with texture

I was told you could use primer instead of water with your texture to reduce the number of steps ot primer/texture...is this true? I am going ot use a hopper ot spray a knockdown finish. Should I primer first or can I mix primer with the texture and do it all at once?

You can mix paint with the texture but its a huge waste. For best results, prime before and after. If you know what your doing you can skip the before part.

DBRaider,

Hello & welcome to the forums. I always primer before shooting texture, and again afterwards. I do think that adding primer to the texture mix helps brighten the ceiling. Now a pro painter will totally disagree with me about mixing primer into anything, but I'm going on experience and lack of call-backs for redos.
