bathroom ceiling and wall water leak

About two months ago I had a portion of bathroom ceiling and wall where they come together plastered because of a leak. I waited this long to make sure that the leak was corrected before I had it painted. Last week I noticed a light brown discoloration in the same position. I called the building agent and he inspected and said there was no leak. He told me the brown was from using (not sure of the spelling but as I remember it sounded like "spondalite" or "spandalite").
He said it is put on first and then the plaster, a two step operation. I watched when the plasterer did the job and there was no 2 step application and no sanding. My question are have you ever heard about this product? Is the discoloration from a leak? Thank you.

I'm not a plasterer so I don't know about that but sounds like a water stain to me. Most likely left over from the first leak.

I agree with coops about the water stain, very probable. What did you observe when you watched the workers? What product did they use. Sand plaster, White coat, if you noticed or can remember. Was the leak fixed before replastering. Has the house at some point had the walls or attic, or what has you ever had insulation blown in? Sorry for the questions, but it would help to know a little more for these experts to give you an answer to what might be the problem.

Thanx for your response. The ceiling and wall were plastered 2 months ago. The discoloration showed up last week. According to what your saying there is still a leak or the leak is the residual from previous leak.

IFrom that statement, I'd just have to think you've still got a leak, water is getting in behind there somehow still. Just my $.02 worth.

Yeah. a water stain would show up the next day, not 2 months later. Probably still leaking.

awesomedell & prowallguy-

Appreciate your imput it's exactly what I thought. If it took over two months to show after plastering I think it would be a minute leak and probably from the same place as the original leak. Problem here is that the building agent inspected and said there was no leak. He is probably angry with me because he broke appointments with me to inspect...never showed and I called his supervisor. The closest this guy ever got to plastering is that he opened a bucket of plaster and then said, "Now what?"
Thanx again guys.
