Urgent advice please on ceiling plastering

I am having repairs to decoration done in my hall by an insurance company but I am doing half the work as the leak did not affect the decor everywhere. Yes it's complicated story. My ceiling is going to have some plasterboard removed and replaced then the whole thing in the hall skimmed over. Should I ask for this to be papered or if the finish is good can they paint straight on. Then they will paper half the walls to the dado rail! I need to get this right because once they go I need to complete what's left! They are returning in the morning so I need to be clear. Can anyone help?

Should be able to paint right over the repair.
