water damaged dining room ceiling...

Hi all,

My bathroom water overflowed down to my dining room, and I see some stains coming thru the ceiling after an hour later. Nothing sagging and drywall paper is still in good shape. Do I need to rip the ceiling and replace the drywall to prevent mold growing later? or Is it OK to let it dry and put some primer and paint it?

Thanks in advance,

S

Since this is just an isolated incident, just allow everything to thoroughally dry out, then I would use a product like Zap or Kilz that has good stain blocking properties to reprimer the affected areas. After that dries, you should be ready to repaint the ceiling.
