Question Water damaged ceiling

I just noticed some water stains on my living room ceiling yesterday. I went up to the room and repaired about 12 small holes roughly 1/8" in diameter. (the holes were right above where the water stains are). There wasn't any other damage to my roof. When I woke up this morning, the stains had gotten bigger.

Should I wait it out to see if they eventually dry, or is there something that I need to do now?

I have read through the forum and found out what to do about the stain. The ceiling isn't bubbling at all and the drywall doesn't seem to be soft at all.

Is this anything to worry about?

Is it a drywall ceiling or plaster? Drywall should dry out pretty well. Remove any wet insulation and either let dry or replace. Let it dry completely then push on it a little see if it gives. If it's solid your good to go.

Take coops advice on replacing the insulation, and when you repaint it give the area a coat of Kilz. Also i would look farther into why the water stains appperared. They just don't pop out.
