Paint new plaster

I just had a room plastered. We used blue board with a thin coat of plaster. It has been drying about 2 weeks. What would be the best way to prepare it for the finish paint job?It has had nothing put on it yet.

I usually prime it enough times so that I can't see through it then paint.

You should never need more than 2 coats of primer, 1 is usually sufficent. A lot of primers do not have the hiding properties of finish paint. I would use a good wall primer followed by 2 coats of flat or satin.
