How to do: sand swirl texture.......needed badly!!

Recently moved into a house and the previous owner removed the built-in entertainment and bar at the basement. The damaged wall in the bar area and the ceiling in the family room was repaired but with different texture. was so ugly, the ceiling and bar has the sand swirl texture and the repair they made was just a plain, smooth and thick texture. Imagine a straight line with plain texture about 6" wide across the ceiling with sand swirl....sucks ;( and same thing with the bar but much worse because of the plain, thick patched wall they've put in a sand swirl wall where the compact ref, tv, dart board and speaker was located. What are the materials i needed to do a sand swirl and how to do it? someone? Pleaseeeeeeee!

The sand texture can be bought in bags at most paint stores and some hardware stores. The swirls are made by either appling it with a brush or brushing the applied texture. It will take a bit of practice to match the existing texture.
