skim coating block basement walls
I am considering plastering over the block walls in my basement den. They currently have been drylocked and show no signs of mildew or infiltration. Can I skim coat plaster over the block, or should I attach metal lath first, or is neither idea possible, leaving drywall and framing as the only solution? I do not need any extra outlets, etc.

There is a product made especially for this purpose. Can't remember what it is called but you can find it at home depot in the concrete section. It is portland cement with fiberglass in it. Or you can definitley use plaster. You may have to use a bonding agent first since you have primed it.

The product coops28 mentioned was originally called "Block Bond" and was developed in cooperation with Owens Corning. It was approved and accepted by many model building codes.
It is now available under other names and the original name may still exist. Conproco(?) is one name. You could search looking for "surface bonding" or something similar.
A latex bond enhancer is always a good investment to avoid future problems.
