Sheetrock paper loose at wall alongside tub
I posted my question to interior walls and ceilings but wonder if it belongs here?
What are the correct steps to get back to a finish coat of paint if I had to remove a 3" by 10" vertical strip of loose paint and sheetrock paper alongside the tub? Raw sheetrock is there now and it's dry and hard and doesn't look water damaged. The paint job was good for 7 years. I'm thinking the shower curtain was not being used carefully. Thanks, Bob.

First prime the exposed gypsum with a solvent based primer. This will prevent any moisture from disolving the gypsum. You can then skim with j/c as needed. Once the mud work is done, prime and paint.
