Question fixing holes in textured walls

What's the proper way to fix holes in a textured wall? I removed some metal screws that held towl fixtures on wall. I filled the holes, but now they are round and shiney without the texture on them. Would using a sponge with wet paint give me a textured look? Any help appreciated, Jerbear.

Maybe, it all depends on the texture you are trying to duplicate and a little bit on the paint used. If the texture is just from multiple coats of paint rolled on a slick finish wall this will probably work.

Another method is to thin down joint compound to approx paint consistency and texture with it. Thicker mud = heavier texture, thinner mud = lighter texture.
