Water Damage On Ceiling.

I have a finished basement with a drywall ceiling. We had a leak in the upstairs bathroom. Water made its way in between two sheets of sheetrock and soaked a section of drywall tape. i removed the wet drywall tape.(a 3 ft. run of tape). Do i need to retape the 3 ft. section or can i just run spackle into that area and just feather it, prime it, and repaint?

Yes any loose or missing tape should be replaced. Don't forget to use a solvent based primer when finished to seal the water stains.
