Soffit Removed - Repair Tape Line

I took out the old soffit and the mud and tape line came out with it.

I am installing new cabinets, but they will be 2 inches short of hiding the tape line.

Not sure what to do there. The ceiling and tape line are not level. There is a really, really small gap, but it will be noticeable.

Should I mud and sand the line to match?
Find a trim piece? (the cabinets are going to the ceiling?
Any ideas?

If this line is below the drywall ceiling you are in luck. Just apply a few coats of joint compound sanding between coats to smooth it out. You could do a crown molding around it, but this would be more money and work. Unless it is less then one inch out.
