roll on orange peel texture
I need to texture two walls where the room already has carpeting. I've decided to roll on the texture. Can anyone make any recomendations about the type of roller to use? Is it the same roller I would use for paint or is it more of a sponge type roller, or something completely different?

It can be difficult to texture an entire wall with a roller. It is very important to finish all the rolling in the same direction!
You can use most any type of roller cover, each will have it's own characteristics which will alter the look of the texture. The longer the nap the more pronounced the texture will be.
