Question

Do you know anything about patching siding? I have that supposedly awful Louisiana Pacific LP1 siding, but the problem isn't water absorption. I have a place on the bottom piece of siding where someone apparently chiped about a 2-3 inch irregular-shaped piece mostly off, but still hanging on. What should I use to put it back on where it will stay? I've thought of superglue, wood glue, wood putty, and even joint compound, but I don't know what would really work and be the best thing. Can you help?? (Of course, I'd need to repaint a little around the area too, so whatever I use would need to be paintable or stay behind the loose piece without oozing out the edges.) Thanks.

Epoxy will do. Go to a hardware store or Home Center and ask for a waterproof or marine 2 part epoxy glue/gel in a tube. Mix, apply, tape, wipe the excess of with acetone, paint when dry.
