Pop Corn Textured Ceiling Repair

I am in the middle of painting my living room ceiling and the popcorn coating is separating from the ceiling. The area is in near my front-door. There is not any water damage, but I think it may be due to moisture or cooler air from door being left open. What steps can I do to repair a popcorn textured ceiling.

Welcome to the forums!

The damage was caused by moisture fron the outside. It is also found near windows that are left open.

The best way to repair this is to scrape off all the loose popcorn, coat the area [plus a little] with an oil base primer and then retexture after the primer dries. They sell aersol cans of popcorn texture that may work for you. Ideally you would use an air compressor and hopper gun to respray the texture [that you buy in a bag and mix with water] Spraying texture is always very messy!!

An even better fix is to scrape off all the popcorn [easy but messy job] and either skim coat and leave the ceiling slick or apply a different texture [knock down looks nice and is easy to paint]
