Joining two sheets with straight edges..

As much as I tried to avoid it, I have several sheets/pcs of drywall
that are flat against flat edges. What is the proper way to mud/join
these together, without having un-even edges?

Many thanks in advance for all your help...

P.S. Happy New Years to all...

Tape and finish it like you would any butt joint - progressively run the j/c out until the finished joint is 18-24' wide.
