10-Foot Ceiling Crack
#1
I have read the posts for wall cracks and was wondering if I should attempt a 10-foot ceiling crack using the suggested procedures. The crack has gotten worse over the past 10 years.
My plan is to
(1)use an xacto knife and clear the crack so that it is level with the rest of the ceiling, (2)fill the crack with spackling, (3) apply fiberglass tape, (4) apply a top coat of spackling, and (5) allow for drying and sanding.
Any suggestions / recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry but there really is no easy way but mabye this will help.Start by using a straight edge to mark the area to be removed and then score your lines with the knife to approximatly the right depth.then take a VERY sharp chisle and gently dig the trough by lightly tapping the chisle with a hammer shaving away the old plaster.Just keep your chisle at an angle so as to scrape rather than gouge. You will want to lay something under your work area as this job can be extremly messy.good luck and keep us informed.
