How to fix a dent in finished drywall

In our living room we have a dent in the drywall. Its about 3/8" deep. The drywall isn't cracked just dented. The area is about 4" wide and
7" long. What would be the best way to repair this dent.

I'd probably scuff the area (if flat paint) with about 100 grit sandpaper, then fill with spackle and use a drywall knife large enough to span the whole thing to smooth it off. Might need to fill twice. Light sanding after it dries, prime and paint.

Pro's will be around, but thats what I'd do. Matching texture (if any) and paint might be an issue.

I agree with Vic but I'm sure he meant to say - use joint compound and not spackle! Spackling is for minor repairs. Most textures can be made from thinned down j/c.
