small craters in my drywall mud

how do i get rid of the small craters in my drywall mud?

Welcome to the forums!

I'm not certain I understand your definition of craters but generally you would fill them with more joint compound. When you sand it is important to use a sanding pole or anything that will hold the sandpaper flat. That will help to even out any high spots.

Agree. Craters are 10' or more across...Divots are a few inches across, and what you probably have is bubble voids. A thin layer of jc and FLAT sanding as marksr says, will do the trick.
