I want to remove the textured material from my ceilings. What tools or equipment do I need to do this?

depending on if the texture has been painted over, If it hasn't been painted, what you want to do is move everything out of the room, now if you have carpet down get some 6mil visqueen and lay it over the carpet, now be care the plastic on the carpet is like ice, Now take a garden sprayer, fill it with warm water and some wallpaper stripper, pour the stripper in the sprayer, now spray the texture down get it nice and damp, then get a wallpaper razor scraper, it uses 4" or 5" single edge razor blades, also get a 6" taping knife, now set up ladders and start scraping, keep the texture damp, it will keep the dust down and make the texture soft, Good luck
