Gap between cement board wall and ceiling

I am in the process of remodeling my bathroom. In the shower area I had to knock out the old walls to install cement backer board for tiling over. After getting the cement board in, there is still a 1/4" or so gap between the cement board and the ceiling. How do I fill this gap and make it look nice before applying the waterproof redgard membrane?

Picture attached. Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the forums! If you plan on tiling the walls, I wouldn't worry about the gap. The thinset and tile will protrude enough to hide the gap.

..... and any gap that remains should have the tile caulked to the ceiling. Caulk will hold up longer than grouting the tile to the ceiling.
