repairing textured plaster

Are there any tips/tricks to matching old textured plastered walls? I have a project coming up in my c. 1929 home, and I'm wondering what are the best tools to use to apply the plaster to try to mimic the old finish.

Yes, but the technique varies with the texture. What texture do you have now? Including some pictures would help. How To Put Pictures In Your Post

Is it the old swirl type texture? pics would be nice

Remember this: Whatever the texture and however it was done it was done quickly. That does not mean you will do it quickly but the plasterer did.
Also how large an area will you be texturing? The kind of material you should use depends somewhat on how large the area to be repaired.
