Remove Corner Bead?

I'm having a window removed and framed in and need to install sheetrock over the old opening. There is corner bead around the perimeter of the opening. Is it best to remove the bead or mud over top? I'm thinking removing it would be best to ensure the flattest possible transition between existing drywall and new.

You're apt to have a hump if you don't remove the corner bead.
