Matching Stringy Texture
Got a large hole repaired and need to texture it. But I'm not sure how the following texture (see photo) is done. Would appreciate some advice. Thanks.

That's a stomp texture. You can probably replicate it by thinning some joint compound down with water until it's more like pudding... and use a sponge to dab it on. You usually use a crow foot brush but a sponge might work. Depends how big. The thickness of the mud is critical to matching it.

Hard to say with the closeup view but a crows foot brush normally leaves a pattern all across the ceiling. Before crows foot became popular many used a round brush for the texture. For small repairs I'll apply the texture with the brush but when doing a whole ceiling I'll roll on the texture and then stomp it to get the desired effect.

When I search for crow foot brush at Lowes, https://www.lowesforpros.com/search?...row+foot+brush, few came up. I'm gonna try it, and let you know the result.
Thanks guys.
