Drywall Brands

I need to place an order in the near future for about 40 sheets of drywall, and am uncertain which brand to go with. The company I will be ordering from has three different options (USG, Continental, Certainteed). I'm also confused as to whether most panels these days are considered lightweight and/or sag resistant, and if I need to select a different type of panel for the walls than what I use on the ceiling, or if I should just pick one type and use it for everything. Lowe's and HD only carry one type of 1/2" 4x12 sheetrock type and brand (which both indicated light weight or sag resistant), so I thought of just going with one of those, but getting it from this particular supply house (because it is less than half the cost). Ceiling is a vaulted truss ceiling with 24" o.c. spacing and 2:12 pitch.

I've never consider brand name to make a difference although each brand does have different sizes/types. With 24" centers I'd stick with 5/8" drywall for the ceiling, not sure I'd trust sag resistant 1'2"

USG makes a 1/2" sag resistant panel that is supposedly stronger than a 5/8" panel: https://www.usg.com/content/usgcom/e...al.180110.html

Nevermind. This type of board is for veneer plaster.

I'm aware of it but haven't seen it used on 24" centers ..... so I'd probably stick with what I know although the lighter 1/2" is appealing at the hanging stage.

I guess I'll just ask what they prefer. The quote they gave me was for 5/8".
