Moisture problem?

My 12 yr old took a shower in our master bathroom for 30-45 min and we dont know if he used the fan. When we came up for the night the studs and drywall screws were showing through the paint in the adjacent master bedroom and were moist to the touch. Is this a problem from the inside or the outside? The paint in our room is flat from previous owners. We are worried that this could be more than just a lot of steam from a long shower. How can we tell?

Can only assume that a large quantity of steam escaped the bathroom and condensed on the cool walls of the bedroom.

The slight temp differences between the studs, screws, and insulated areas probably gave slightly different amounts of condensation that visibly looks different.

Right now all you can do is let it dry, doubt it's causing any long term issues!

Ya, for the time being all you can do is keep an eye on it ...... and maybe ban the kid from long steamy showers. If it's just steam from his long shower it should dry out soon.

Telling people to limit shower time is a very tough thing to do. What I would do is tell them you have a hot water tank problem and hot water is only available for a 20 minute duration. Then turn off the water if it exceeds the 20m minutes.

You could wire the fan to come on with the light but that can get annoying when non-shower activities are taking place.

Actually considering its a bathroom, that idea is a good one. Like most public restrooms.
