What kind of caulk, if any, goes in the crack between the bathroom sink backsplashes and the wall? The kind that is paintable or the silicone type that's going to go between the left side backsplash and sink joint? Thanks.
Curious how to get this finish. Tried a coarse sponge and the pattern was too fine. Large fanned-out brush?

I've been trying to figure out what I need to properly repair this wall and it is pretty confusing. It looks like a top layer has separated from a bottom layer. I've read that I might need something called PVA so the new top layer will adhere to the bottom layer. But again I don't know much about plastering and as much as I would like to just pay a professional to do the job, I don't have the extra money and it is a pretty small job. The area in need of repair is about 1ft(H)x6in(W). If someone could list the materials I would need and maybe a quick run down of the process that would be great!
