Patching drywall Corner

What is the best way to repair or rebuild a small corner section of dry wall, that will be hidden, because the area that needs to be repaired will be behind a forced air heating vent. It needs to be repaired because the part of the wall that is missing is where the vent cover screws into the wall.

the best method, especially if it will be hidden, is drywall corner bead. this mettalic material is available in home-depot in the sheetrock section and comes in various lengths up to 14' simply buy a small peice, and use tin snips (also called aviation snips or sheet-metal cutters) to cut a length slightly longer than the hole. simply use drywall screws or even nails to attach it to the wall over the corner that needs repair. it can be filled in with plaster, spackle or joint compound if desired, and is easy to screw to if you wish to do so.
