We have puppies!

My wife and I are just overjoyed!! One of our girls had a litter of 6 puppies (a big litter for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels) yesterday afternoon/evening; everyone is doing fine. She had 5 boys and 1 girl; weights from 3.7 ounces to 6.2 ounces.

We thought we were going to loose the little one (dehydrated and cold), but he pulled through. Just kept him nursing and kept him wrapped in towels warmed in the microwave (the towels!!). We also had to give the mom an injection of oxytocin after 3-1/2 hours of no contractions on the last one.

After about a week we will give all our buyers the good news (want to be sure all the puppies are good and healthy before we contact them). Happy and busy days around our house now.

Congratulations and goodluck. We have our Lemon Beagle about a month along and she's turned into the biggest baby. She can sure tell were being extra nice and careful with her cause she's sucking it up.

I was reading your post and almost thought I was going to choke when I thought I was reading that you heated up the pup in the micro-wave.

You mean I can't warm a pup in the microwave?? You know I almost sent that without the clarification!

They sure do know how to take advantage of a situation don't they? The last week of her pregnancy our little girl had us trained to hand feed her. Good luck on your Lemon Beagle.
