Feeding a puppy white rice?
When my puppies can from the litter they developed loose stool due to the gradual change in food. For a while they were on chicken and white rice with medicine given by the vet. They it was back to dry food with a bit of rice to keep the stools solid. After going all the way to dry food, the loose stool happened again....so I kept with the dry food and rice. However, when asking about the hyperactivity of my dogs I was told they may be having too many carbs and I should wean them off the rice, that their stomachs should be okay by now - they ware 15 weeks old now, problem started around 7-8 weeks. What are your thoughts on the carbs and rice?

I would talk to the vet about the diet. Ordinarily, dogs on a major brand of dog food will be fine. The persistent loose stool needs to be evaluated to ensure that the dogs don't have some ailment. An examination by the vet would be the best approach.
Dogs are omnivores, just as humans are. Carbohydrates should consitute a part of the diet. Puppies tend to be quite active. Certain breeds of dogs are more active than other breeds. Is a high level of activity a characteristic of your dog's breed? Do they get plenty of exercise?
Hyperactivity sounds more along the lines of the trait that certain humans exhibit. It manifests itself as an inability to concentrate or maintain focus on the task at hand.
Is the rice being fed to increase the carbohydrate component of the diet or to increase the fiber content? Is the dry food formulated for puppies?

They are on Puppy Iams. The rice was originally prescribed by the Vet due to loose stool. We go tomorrow for boosters so I will ask again. They do gt plenty of exercise, plus they wrestle constantly. They are pugs and usually lazy dogs, perhap later in life.
